Is Vegas more expensive during March Madness?

You don’t need an excuse to visit Vegas, but March Madness is the perfect reason to come and enjoy great food, drinks, incredible sportsbooks, and games! Despite inflated prices being the norm, March Madness is one of the biggest tourist draws for Sin City, along with the NFL Big Game, New Year’s Eve, and Formula One (F1).

Please note that I don’t have any bracket advice to offer—I’m just a tourist who fell in love with Las Vegas and now calls Southern Nevada home. So, yes! I’m a local who still enjoys visiting the Las Vegas Strip, even during busy sporting events and holidays.

March Madness in Las Vegas tips

Here are some tips for enjoying March Madness in Las Vegas, because the goal should be to have fun while making winning bets!

  • Book early! Don’t make the rookie mistake of holding out for cheaper airline tickets or hotel rooms. Booking your trip early is your best bet for the best experience because prices rise as the tournament progresses.
  • What to wear in Vegas in March? Your attire should lean into light jackets, t-shirts, shorts, jeans, casual pants or jumpsuits, comfortable shoes, a bathing suit, and an outfit for a night out in Vegas.
  • Be mentally prepared for long lines throughout your trip, starting with the airport, check-in at the hotel, restaurants, sportsbook, and table games.
  • Make restaurant reservations. OpenTable is a great way to save time.
  • Where to watch the games? The most important decision you’ll make during a Vegas March Madness vacation is where to watch the games! The major casinos sponsor viewing parties, which include food, drink, and seats. (See the below list.)
  • Looking to save money and avoid crowds? Consider heading off The Strip to casino resorts like The Orleans and Westgate or local neighborhood resorts like Durango, Red Rock, or South Point.
  • Make use of mobile app betting to move around the city freely.
